RE/MAX CROSSROADS RULES & REGULATIONS BULLETIN:
Clarification on RECO's New Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) Program
As you know, back in August 2013, RECO introduced a new online-based Continuing Education program to replace the soon to be phased out 24-credit (per registration cycle) continuing education program. This new online program focuses on the core issues of the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002, namely regulatory requirements, consumer protection and current industry issues.
Since the new program was introduced, we have received a number of questions from our office agents regarding RECO License renewal requirements. There seems to be some confusion about what is required and when the new program will fully be in effect. This Office Bulletin will clarify some of these questions.
If your license is due for renewal on or before July 31, 2015, here are your Options:
If your license is due for renewal on or after August 1, 2015, you must complete RECO’s Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) program online (Option 1 will be your only option).
Any excess CEU credits will no longer be carried forward into the new registration cycle. RECO update course is only available online through RECO only.
Here is a more detailed look at what RECO is offering with this $44 new MCE program (tax is already included), as illustrated above in Option 1:
RECO Update Course – approx. 6-8 hours to complete on average (self-paced)
• Consists of four mandatory modules – This is 4 different sections broken down into 13 units of different topics focusing on regulatory compliance
• Minimum of two electives to be completed, but you can complete them all if you would like (at no extra cost).
• Allow at least 1.5 to 2 hours to complete each elective course. They are self-paced so they may take longer.

To access RECO’s Online Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) program, login to your RECO MyWeb account at https://myweb.reco.on.ca/members/
If you don’t have an account yet, you can register one for free on the homepage. If you forgot your login, use the “Forgot Your Password?” feature on the homepage located just above the Login green button.
This is an online-based program (no software to download). Simply login and to the right hand side of the page you’ll see a purple button called Online Continuing Education. If it’s your first time clicking on it, it will automatically prompt you for your credit card payment information (only prompts 1 time). Once you’ve entered your credit card info, you have access to the Online Continuing Education for the 2 years renewal cycle until your renewal application is required to be submitted. For these online courses, you are able to bookmark your progress to take breaks. You can take breaks and return to it another time or day and resume where you left off during the 2 year renewal cycle.
To check if you have any existing continue education credits carried forward (only for use to renew your RECO license on or before July 31, 2015), login to your RECO MyWeb account. On the homepage left hand side, click PROFILES. In the middle of the page it will display all info relating to your registration (like RECO #, license expiry date, continuing education credit carried forward from RECO, etc.) Note, the CEUs carried forward shown will not include any CEUs you’ve received from any 3rd party providers like OREA, TREB, etc.; it only shows CEUs carried forward that you’ve received directly taken from RECO.
